Esky EC170-06 World Smallest HD Color camera is a good reverse camera. I had no real issues installing the camera power and ground wires to my backup light (Nissan Frontier 2007). I suggest not to use the splice connectors the camera wires are way to thin, I think it is less than 22 gauge. I would have given it five starts if the wires had a better gauge. I just used crimp caps but that was also hard cause the thin wires would break. Just have to be patient and take your time. The video cable is 19' which was short, I need 25' for my truck.
I purchased the camera with the guide lines. This was just a coin toss type of decision when I made it. I am not sure I would get the guide lines again. Not that there is anything wrong with them just really don't think I need them.
The picture is good. Very easy to install. The only difficult part is aligning the lens. As shipped, the camera was on the bracket so that it had to be hung downward for the correct picture. I needed to mount the bracket with the screws facing down, so the camera has to be rotated on the bracket. No big deal, but there is no algnment mark or detent to "lock" the camera in place. If you are by yourself, it will take you awhile to get the perfect alignment. The tip is to have someone else to either look at the picture or adjust the lens. All that being said, it is a great deal for the money. Very small camera that people would have to look for if they were going to bother it. I wish there was a way of adjusting the red/green/yellow alignment marks, but again, not a show stopper. You won't be disappointed with this camera.
Nice little camera, works perfect for my application. I installed it under the edge of the center trunk trim on a 2010 Corolla. The red zone starts about 2ft from the bumper with no bending of the bracket. The only thing I would change is the wiring design. It would be nice if the camera end of the wiring had smaller disconnect. You need a 9/16" hole to pass the wiring through the body. I can't say anything about durability yet, only installed two days ago.
Camera arrived sooner than promised, thanks AMAZON!. Lot better picture than xpected for price. No focus adjustment that i could find. Easy hookup, great camera!! Just buy it!
Package arrived on day promised.I installed it near my license plate on my 2008 Mustang GT. I have not installed the radio / nav unit yet but the diagram looks simple and I just have to determine the hot and neutral wires to my back up light. The only thing I don't like is the fact I had to drill a 7/16 hole in my bumper (plastic) to get the wires through. I'll take a trip to the auto parts store to see what I can shove in the extra space. The hole is underneath a lip so is not noticeable from behind the car. I'll report back after full installation.
Its good product. I installed it in my 2011 Nissan Altima, its working prety good up to now. The installation is very easy and if u know little bit about wiring or car harness then you can install it by your self. And good thing is its too small.
Thanks
This camera works great. The 170 degree view may be a little to much but that's not the camera's fault. You might want something in the 120 or 130 degree range. I am using it with the new Pioneer 8000 NEX which allows me to view the video while traveling down the highway and toggle between an additional camera. The wide angle view makes it difficult to see vehicles behind you until they get within about 100 feet. This might not be an issue with your application. The colors are good and the night vision is OK, better than the $80 camera purchased with the radio. If you think you will need better low light video you might want a camera with several IR lights built in.The video cable that came with it is a little short for my long wheel base F250 but should be enough for a standard car or truck. Also, be aware that when you buy this camera you need to choose one with or without backup lines. This camera, like some models, DOES NOT have a wire that you can cut in order to disable the "built in" backup lines. The 8000 NEX has backup lines in the radio software that you can turn on or off and change the location. I have one without lines on the bumper and have another one with lines on the back of my 10ft box trailer. This combination works great. It's so nice to see what's behind the trailer while moving down the road. I purchased this camera to replace a $80 camera that had terrible low light capabilities. I also have a friend that had to replace two factory cameras stolen off his 2013 truck at a cost of over $200 per camera. I think when you look at all the options you can't go wrong for less than $20.
I don't know if it's really the "World's Smallest" or not, but it is pretty small. I bought this so I would be more easily able to back up my extended-length cargo van (which I keep full of sound gear so no clear sight lines through it). I ended up mounting it inside the van in one of the rear windows, and it works great. It does have the colored bars and such like the factory units come with so you can easily gauge distance. I still use my side mirrors a lot (which is probably good) but actually having a picture of what's directly behind me is definitely worth the price. It took me a bit to figure out how to mount it (which was a vehicle issue and not a problem with the camera) and once it's installed you can rotate the camera within the included mount so that the picture on your monitor will be right side up.The picture is clear and I would highly suggest getting one of these if you do a lot of towing or even if you back up your vehicle on a regular basis (which almost all of us do). I am looking at getting something like this for both my Civic Si and my wife's Murano.
Review for "World smallest HD Camera" - this camera was one of 3 that I ordered to "test" the picture for a rear view camera for my car. This can be hidden very well under a trunk lip above the license plate. The base has 2 screw holes but you could glue the thing in place. The camera rotates in relation to the base so you can level it. The color picture is really nice; better than my small portable (analog) TV with 4 inch screen. The other "contenders" for rear view camera were the license bolt on version of this same HD camera and a cheap license plate bolt camera with night LEDS. This camera will probably be the one I use since it hides better, but I still have to get a better monitor for the car. (maybe a tuner with video in)
