My GF gave me the package with this monitor and the camera, and I have to say I was a bit skeptical given the price but it works pretty well. A couple tips...
The red wire coming out of the RCA cable is confusing, it's actually in case you want to run power from the rear tail lights. It's really thin wire, I would use a heavier guage wire.
After looking all over the internet as to how to tap into power when in reverse, from INSIDE the truck (not from the tail light) I found this... the MBEC connector (for GMC Sierra)... even insturcitons on how to tap into it. I'm pretty mechanical/electrically inclined but I couldn't find a way to easily tap into that without changing the wiring. Supposed to be able to just connect a Bussman Add a Circuit, but it wouldn't work on my truck, there's no slot for a fuse at the MBEC. So I ended up just running a power and ground wire from the Reverse light at the driver side tail light assembly.
I did use the RCA connector and power connector at the camera side, but after I'd wired everything I realized I wish I'd jsut cut the wires at the connectors and hard wired it. Those connections are out in the elements just hanging under your truck. I solder all my connections and use heat shrink tubing, which I've found to be the most watertight connection. So in a few days I'll change those 2 connectors to solder and heat shrink. But it works great for now.
The color in the monitor isn't very good, everything's sort of gray scale (it actually looks infrared), even after adjusting the monitor. But for backing up to a trailer, or jsut making sure you're not running over anything, IMO it's fine.
