Not sure about the cranking power. We cranked and cranked and cranked and the red light never went out. Finally gave up and charged up the box with the USB connected to laptop port. Radio sure works good and the sound is not bad at all. We've had several bigger radios like those used on night stands, etc. that did not sound as good as this guy. Even the weather frequency was picked up and came through loud and clear. Definitely recommend to anyone that needs an emergency radio. Set it in the sun for charging as well.
This little crank is holding up to regular use. I hope it continues to perform. Unfortunately it does not come with an output jack for headphones.
I purchase this product for just what it proposes to be, an emergency radio, that can be recharged by crank or solar. I considered the flashlight a bonus but had little expectations with regards to using the radio for charging my phone. First; the radio portion works just fine, I could pick up stations on all three bands inside my house with no issues. weather station came clear, clean and was easy to locate. Both AM and FM bands I was able to pick up several stations also. Speaker is acceptable, tinny but clear with plenty of volume. Light; was bright but with a somewhat unusual light beam, spot with halo, so not great but very usable. Phone charging; actually works, was able to top off my phone 89% to 100% so not to shabby. Would not like to try and charge a phone that was dead or nearly so, as a 1000 mAH power bank is just to small to do much. Unit came with a charge and I was able to charge with solar, hand crank and from my computer with no issues. I like the compact size and that it will do what it was designed for reasonably well. Build quality was also surprisingly good and cables and adapter worked as expected. Like most electronic devices you need to maintenance charge them. This one is no exception and the recommendation is to charge every 60 days. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and believe it to be a solid 4 star product and at the right price 5 stars.
Very nice. Small size. Rubber body. As expected.

Important update: The flashlight DOES stay on if you push the button down all the way. Upgraded rating to 5 stars.
Wow, this inexpensive little gadget works pretty well! I imagine if you are too far away from radio towers then it won't work as well, but that's normal. The station selector works really well. I'm not yet sure how long you would have to crank to get power but it's pretty easy to crank. I have been running the radio all day just on solar power (and I'm indoors!) So that seems to work great. The flashlight is somewhat bright but not super bright. You have to hold the button down to get light, so that is inconvenient if you are trying to repair a tire or something that requires both hands. The BEST part about this is that as long as you have solar power or can hand crank it, you can charge your phone or other device. I imagine it wouldn't charge super quickly, but I'm sure it's fine. The manual says solar power will charge the radio fully in 10-12 hours. The crank will give you 15-20 minutes radio time or 3 minutes of flashlight per 1 minute of cranking. I'll post an update if I get better stats for phone charging. Everyone should buy one of these and keep for an emergency. No batteries or plugs required to power it, but it comes with 3 adapter/cords. Check the specs on those; they don't support USB Micro C (the newest one for phones) but I can get a cheap adapter to fix that. One of them looks to be an older micro USB-A? and one is I think a 3mm to 1.5mm adapter jack.
I bought this item in anticipation of violent mid-west Spring storms, because the price was excellent and reviews indicated it functioned adequately. After cranking for 3 minutes (sorry, did not pay attention to the status of the red light), I found the flashlight bright - it beamed well across our 1/2 acre back yard - and the radio and weather band was loud - exactly what was wanted. The next night, without further cranking, the radio and flashlight still functioned strongly, even with both operating simultaneously - and did so without weakening until I turned it off (about 5 minutes). I only wish the gadget was a little smaller to be able to fit into my shirt pocket; it will fit into my pants pocket; however it is comfortably held in my small hand.. After reading prior comments, I will address storing the cables with rubber bands (or ribbon) and was pleased that it feels solid, not flimsy as presented by other commentators. So-so with charging my cell phone, but I would be able to make some short calls. Haven't tried the solar charging yet; it's small and expect it to take a while... I like it and am buying another for my workplace.
