The outer ends cover a portion of the month and registration tags on the California license plate.  I had to cut off the obscuring bits, prime and paint. The instructions could have included the fact that the mode switch is in the cable splitter, I mistook it for a screw at first.

Yep! Great buy! Screws on easily and works fine...

I have purchased this recently and I have to say this not a good option during night time. It is too blurry during night and could not really use.
It is too bright during day time, but manageable. Unfortunately, I could test this only after fixing to my car and still sticking with it.

Update: I had to say that, customer service is very persistent to resolve the issue and great follow ups.  Although it is a hassle to replace the backup camera, all of the money is refunded and tried their best. For the service of the seller, increasing the rating to 4.

Bench tested it, it works great.

Update: due to my review, esky gave me a 15$ refund as compensation. They have great service and will assist you in case if you have any problems.

When I read some of the reviews for this product, I was scared. but for me it actually worked well. Good picture at day, at night a bit blurry but still fine. Some people mentioned that the image is reversed, but changing the feature through the click fixes that. Even if i turn off my car then on, the last feature that I clicked is saved (some mentioned that the view resets).
The downsides:
Understanding this clicking thing to change the view is awful, there's no logic just luck into getting it.
It's in the truck, you have to go back and ask someone to help you look at the screen inside
The lines that appear to help you park are useless and false, if you depend on them you will hit something, so the camera just serves as seeing exactly what's behind you but not to tell you the dimensions.

Very nice backup camera but bear in mind that being mounted on the license plate makes it subject to being blurred by rain and slush splashed up from the road. Keep a paper towel handy in wet weather to wipe it off after parking. One other issue is that it partially obscures the renewal sticker placed on the upper right corner of license plates in some states. It hasn't been an issue yet, but if I get pulled over because of it, I'll just use my bench grinder to grind the edge back a bit.

this works really well. plug and play. after researching, i did NOT go with the easier to install wifi version after reading they get interference. this works perfectly.  if it isn't aligned correctly, there is a little bit of a fish-eye rounding effect. when aligned it gives a good field of view. the fish eye effect is a little more noticeable when mounted at the top of a plate on a high  mount SUV but still pretty trivial. overall an excellent purchase. gives a really clean, high quality picture. and is very bright at night.

Works good for my Corolla 2009! It is easy to install, and view range is good enough for me. 5 stars.
