its ok.
I love it! It worked right out of the box. The light is very bright, the radio volume can get pretty loud, and all stations in my area came out crisp and clear. I haven't tried charging my phone yet, but my mp3 player was down to about 25% and it charged it up to 100% in less time versus plugging it into my laptop's usb port. It's also small - fits the length of my hand - ideal for sticking in your backpack, purse, or even coat pocket. I bought it due to power outages in my area that tend to be rather sudden. I haven't been able to test the solar panel due to a great deal of rain/clouds since receiving it, but will see how that goes when daylight returns. ;-)
The AM won't work for me at my location but th fm not only works but sounds pretty good for a small little thing like this. I like these a lot for an emergency bag
A very versatile unit. The radio dial if pretty finicky, but given their size, not unexpected. I would like the antenna a little better protected. It's a good size for my (smallish) hand for cranking and it wasn't terribly hard to crank. I don't expect to charge a cell phone from it as my arms would probably fall off from all the cranking. This is much easier to find a place for in my 'go' bag than one of the larger Eton units the Red Cross likes.
One of the problems with these solar charging hand held units is protection of the cells from scratches from carrying. I simply keep mine in the box it came in, but am looking for a soft bag that wouldn't disintegrate in water.
The Best hand crank i have ever owned!!!!!!!! 10 stars......
Seems to work OK. I leave it sitting in the east window to keep it charged. It shows the red light on, meaning it's charging. It would be nice to know if it did actually picked up and emergency broadcast message. I know the WA-DOT broadcasts on 5.30 AM, and I could never pick up that channel, so who knows. The LED flashlight works fine, and to date, The USB cord provided wouldn't fit my phone. The merchant was happy to return my money without returning the item. The merchant writes,"We greatly appreciate your review which help remind us to improve our product design and quality in future. If by any chance you feel we have tried to make things right, I hope it won't hurt to ask a favor. Would you please consider to update the review? As a low rating review really sets us back by a lot :(". So, I have them an extra star for trying to make things right. The flashlight continues to work fine, and I can pick up some local channels that have a stronger signal.
Very cool!
