Monitor is good and serves the purpose, especially since it is needed only to view fairly large objects and kids that may not be seen by the mirror.
To that extent I did not expect DVD or TV quality. However, I think some reviewers may have forgotten to remove the thin plastic film that has been placed over the screen to protect it during transfer/install. It took me a while to understand that there was a film..and peeling it off was tricky since it appears that the film has been installed before the plastic encasing was assembled, so some part of the film was stuck under the frame and had to be slowly peeled off.
I do think that the instructions need to be better. For example, the instruction requires that we use a fuse prior to connecting it to the cars power system...and no fuse is provided in the kit. This basically means that a DIY person will have a sudden problem and may have to go hunting for a fuse...with no clue on rating, etc
Luckily for me, BestBuy installed it and they knew what they are doing and rigged a fuse. I would not recommend that anyone try this by themselves since there is a fairly good chance that the cars electrical system may be compromised. Professionals are so much better. I am also going to suggest the same for the companion camera that I bought.
