I mounted this baby on the front of my long Tundra to help in parking situations. It gets a lot of high pressure rain being up there and so far no fogging or water intrusion. It has a very versatile mount and the wide angle almost gets corner to corner as I have it aimed down to judge distance from the bumper. Great product.
This camera was easy to install, and worked with my eclipse avn 6620 in dash. During the day, the picture is mostly clear, at least good enough for a backup camera, at night it is a different story. Because of the red lights from your breaks, there is enough light to see, but you get bad glares, and some horizontal lines throughout the picture, its not bad enough to not be able to see, but it is distracting. The backup grid lines help gauge how far back you can go, and if you are straight or not. Overall I would recommend it for the price.
Great camera for the price.. The guide grid line is very helpful. Day view is awesome, night time is decent.
Bought this to use on my GMC truck with the tailgate off. Glued a magnet to the bracket. Gives very good image, even in low light, with clear markings of distance. Very wide angle.
ISTALED VERY EASY AND GETTING CABLE TO FRON SCREEN NOT HARD. ALSO PUT ONE OF FRONT OF CAR, IT TOO WORKS GREAT.....JON
OK, I would like to preface this by saying that I ordered my camera off of eBay from a US seller for less but it is the same camera.
And for those who are not sure what type of camera to get, CCD or CMOS...... In this case, for this application CCD is by far the best picture quality. Plus this camera is higher res than some other CCD brands/models.
As stated by the item description, "[Newly Updated] Esky EC170-08 100% Waterproof Vehicle Car Rear View Backup Camera High-definition CCD 170 Degree Viewing Angle - Rear view Camera" I agree with most of the description with exception to one big problem that is easily solved. That is of this unit being 100% waterproof. While it holds the ability to be 100% waterproof, it was no where near that way out of the box for me.
When I opened it up, picked it up, & moved the camera around I could tell that there was movement between the two metal pieces that are holding it together. So, I grabbed a small Phillips screwdriver to first test and see if the screws were just loose and needed tightening. Nope, they were all as tight as could be. So, I was then convinced that I knew what was up before I opened it up to check in side. Once doing so I quickly found out that there was NOT an "O-Ring" between the two metal pieces that were held together by two screws.
I had anticipated that I might need some 100% silicone caulk so I had some of that to apply to the groove in the camera where the O-Ring should have been. In addition I used the silicone everywhere on the camera that I thought moisture might get in so that it wouldn't be damaged right away or so it wouldn't just fog up and be useless.
So, the bottom line is that the picture quality on this camera and the guidelines that are built in are very nice. But, if you want a waterproof camera. You are most likely going to have to make it that way your self.
NOTE: If you take your camera apart, pay attention to which side is up so you don't put it back together wrong. If you do, your image will be upside down once you get everything up and running.
I purchased this camera because of the cost and I was pleasantly surprised. The only fault so far is, the screws holding it together being loose when it came out of the box. This wasn't really a problem because it was only $40 and I was planning on sealing the case with silicone anyway. Just made my job easier. It was an easy install if you're mechanically/electrically inclined. It provides a perfectly clear picture through my Kenwood DNX570HD. It has been on the back of my truck, mounted under the bumper for 1 month now. It has seen snow, ice, heavy rain and single digit temps. Works flawlessly every time.
Great camera. Installed it with an Chinese navigation works great. Very clear. Make sure to ground the black wire and connect the red to 12v reverse light +
Works well with nice clear view of backing up even at night. Really like it and does its job well.
This camera works very well. It is easy to mount and the picture is clear. It is small compact and easy to mount and connect.
