This little device has a lot of functionality wrapped up in a fairly compact sized package.  These crank powered emergency multi-use devices have been around for some time tow, and in some regards this one has some noted improvements compared to others I've tried.  Unlike the versions I remember as a youth, this radio actually has good reception on all bands, and includes a weather band (frequency) that has two stations that come through loud and clear in my area of California.  The speaker does go up to a pretty loud volume, though does suffer from distortion when turned up too high.  Having two sources of power, solar and hand crank, allows for the user to have confidence that sits device will continue to have functionality when the battery runs low and sunlight is not available.  An added bonus that is quite nice in the age of cell phones, is the ability to charge USB powered devices from its built rechargeable battery, or by turning the crank if the battery has run down.  The device comes with a USB cable for charging itself, and a two part adapter for charging USB powered devices.

There are a few areas where this device could be improved, and are for the most part pretty minor.  The flashlight is usable, and has an acceptable range and level of brightness for a single LED flashlight.  However, it has a ring of darkness within the beam (see photo below).  In addition, the power button for the flashlight does not make a tactile click when used to turn the light on and off.  I also feel that it would be preferable to have a one-piece adapter to connect this device to a USB powered device for charging, and some way of attaching the cables to the device when not in use.  I have cut a hole in the top of the box it came in, so the solar panel is exposed and I can keep the device and its cables together while resting in my window.

This product is very neat, it had MULTIPLE was to charge, Solar, crank or even through a regular port. The radio is clear and works properly as well as the flashlight. One of my pictures below actually show my radio charging in the little sunlight creeping in throught my bedroom window. My favorite part about the product is that you can charge you phone with it using SOLAR energy. REALLY GOOD BUY!

Great for your bug out bag or for your weather kit. I got this for our bug out bag/weather kit and its been great. Its small enough to tuck away but large and solid enough to be rugged for what we need it for. It has AM/FM and weather band, an LED light and hand crank. It can also power cell phones if needed but i have an external battery to do that. Overall its well worth it.

This is a very cool little multi-function device. Flashlight, Radio, Phone charger - three essential things you may need in an emergency. And what's great is that it has it's own rechargeable battery that can be charged three different ways!

Charging: You can charge this device via the solar panel up top, the crank on the side, or the usb port. The latter doesn't come in handy in an emergency but it's the fastest way to charge it in the first place. What's cool is that on the side, where the radio window is, there's a tiny red light that lights up when this thing is charging. The stronger the charge, the brighter the red light. So plugging the USB cable in gives you the brightest red light, followed by the crank, and then finally the solar panel. With the solar panel on top, that little red light is always on as long as it's facing some form of light source, and it will get brighter the closer you take it to the light source. Take it outside into the sun and you've got a good charge going.

Flashlight: Dang the LED bulb in this thing is BRIGHT. Has a great reach and the longer it throws the larger the area it covers. What's a bit annoying is that the flashlight throws a very bright "dot", surrounded by an empty dark ring which is encircled by a bright thin ring. You can kind of see what I'm talking about in the one photo where I pointed it at the instructions close-up. It can still light up a room but it's an odd layout for a flashlight.

Radio: I was pleasantly surprised by how well the radio worked. Granted, the numbers in the window will get you in the vicinity of the station that you're looking for but by no means are they accurate - at least not on the one that I got. The speaker is rather clear for it's size and it can get LOUD. You're not gonna impress any audiophiles but this is for emergencies and it does the job rather well.

Charger: Finally, this will charge your phone and that could make a big difference in an emergency. A self-charging phone charger. Granted, it may not help you watch videos while you're stuck but it'll give your phone enough oomph to make an important call or two.

Overall I'm really happy with this little gadget. It's the coolest thing I hope I never have to use but am glad I have it in case I do.
