Very durable and handy. I wish there was a better way to charge devices and a way to store the cables in side.
Being somebody who loves the great outdoors I can tell you that having something like this is not only a good idea for safety reasons, but it can remove the need for other such devices that only do one thing.
So lets break it down by function:
Flashlight: It works. It does have a funky pattern in that it focuses a lot of light to the middle, but I think it is actually a feature in that they wanted the lens to turn a weak light into a powerful one by focusing it. Indoors it works well. Outdoors it works adequately enough to get you to the bathrooms at a campground, or in an emergency situation, it will get you were you need to go. And don't forget, you can always crank up some more power, but that part of the review comes later.
Radio: This gets AM/FM and the NOAA Weather Band as well. Sound quality is what you would expect from a mono-speaker radio. AM and Weather sound just fine, but this won't replace a real radio or even the latest smart phones for FM. To help you tune the radio it does have a green light letting you know that is the best the station will get.
Battery Charging: This unit can be recharged in three different ways. You can either lay it out in the sun for solar charging, hand crank it for emergency bursts of energy or plug it into a USB slot on a computer or plug it into the wall. The hand crank is fun for about 2 minutes. Then it becomes something you would only do at night in an emergency. Just about the only caveat is how many times you are cycling the battery during solar charging without even realizing it. I would store this in a box to keep it from cycling the battery into oblivion between trips.
Battery Discharging: The battery will power the radio all night at a low volume. Radio doesn't require much juice. As a phone charger it is okay for older phones, but my Galaxy S6 was barely putting along with this thing. I am sure I wouldn't mind having it to power my phone in an emergency though. Which is kind of the point of this device.
All in all I think this is a good quality product. The hand crank didn't feel like it was going to come of despite being made out of plastic. The radio is adequate. As a flashlight it works. As an emergency device it is a great device to have in your arsenal.
Would I suggest it to friends and family? I would if they were adventurous like myself or if they lived in rural areas and having a flashlight that can be hand cranked and solar powered would be a big plus.
I knew that a hand crank radio type of product existed but I never owned one. Now I got a chance to own one of these hand crank radios. This Esky radio is not just a radio but it has multiple other things as well. For starters, as the name suggested, this is a radio with FM, AM and WB (Wide Band) frequencies. There is a switch on the side of unit which allows you to switch between the various radio modes.
You also have 2 dials, one for turning the radio on and it also works as volume control. The other dial is for changing the radio Station, so yes it is manual control which I prefer than those scan type ones which in most cases fail to catch the weaker stations. You can clearly see the frequency in the section above those 2 dials. On the side is the speaker which produces just enough sound. If you are expecting bose quality sound or something then you are at wrong place. The sound is just right for what the functionality of this thing is.
In addition to this, you have pretty powerful flashlight at one end. I have observed that with even a minute of cranking, the flashlight works for hours while as soon as I start radio, it will deplete the battery super fast. The hand crank is on the other side of the unit. When you crank the radio, there is a red light that comes on which says that the unit is being charged. Using hand crank is not the only way to charge this btw, you have a USB cable included and this thing has a MiniUSB port. I have one thing to mention here is that I would have appreciated if it was a MicroUSB connector as that is more commonplace now.
This thing also includes USB cable to charge your other devices but I would not really use it for that purpose. And yes it can also charge its internal battery using solar power. Now this is great to have so many options to recharge the internal battery of this unit. Pretty well thought-out by the manufacturer. Overall this is a very good item to keep for emergencies.

This Radio it's very usefull out side on site where you dont have a electricity outlet. You can charge the device with the Sun Light or with the handle to make your own electricity. Very nice, connect to my phone you can usit like a speaker or listening the radio. Very nice to have.
This thing is super cool. I fee like I'm ready for the next emergency!
Handy little emergency device, nice compact size. Took a few minutes to get things going for me, thought the flashlight came on right out of the box. I gave it a few cranks and the radio came on so the crank charger works great and the solar charging feature is a plus. The only negative I've found is the tuning dial is way touchy, it took me a while to find my preferred radio station but once I did I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality from that tiny speaker. Also, the flashlight is quite handy. Our cat must have gotten hold of a foil packet of medicine off the counter and we couldn't find one of the pills. Grabbed several of my cheapie LED flashlights which always work great - for a while - and no go. I spotted this thing, gave it a few more cranks and went to searching. Found the other pill and everyone is safe and happy. With severe weather season approaching I'll be having this little gem next to my bed.
This radio is the perfect thing for camping or an emergency. Several ways to charge, reception and sound quality are better than expected for the size and price. Highly recommend this unit
